Submitted 10 years 3 months ago by Bill Mountains.
Description:
The M'bogo Gut Hook Skinner from Timberline. The word M'bogo is from the Swahili language meaning Cape Buffalo, a dangerous big game animal weighing up to a ton and as strong and fearless as any animal on earth. To that end, this gut hook skinner honors of this “Big Five” trophy revered by hunters world wide.
As a professional guide, designer Terry Treutel knows first-hand what a quality skinning knife needs to get the job done. As a custom knifemaker for 20 years, he carefully refined the profile of the blade, grinds and handle geometry to produce a knife that is fast, easy and comfortable to use. Features include a gently curved handle to provide a secure and comfortable grip, a dramatically radiused blade for ease of skinning and a gut hook for fast, safe and precise field dressing. Timberline added a zirconia ceramic blade to dramatically improve edge retention. Technical ceramic is substantially harder than steel, thereby keeping the blade sharp many times longer that steel. Ceramic by nature is brittle and this knife should only be used for skinning.
