Description
The Spyderco Snap-it returns to the line-up with salt water proof H1 steel that is immune to rust. About the same size as a Spyderco Salt 1, but it has swapped out the normal pocket clip for a snap hook with spring closure. This allows the knife to be suspended from a variety of objects and gear for immediate access.
The Blade: Composed of H-1 super stainless steel, this steel is rust proof, while still maintaining a decent edge. Leaf shaped blade is saber ground with a raised blade for easy access to the thumb hole.
The Handle: Dependable mid-lock holds the blade open securely. Lightweight and strong FRN frame is ultra durable and scratch resistant. The addition of a Kraton rubber insert softens the feel and adds traction even with we hands.
H1 is precipitation-hardened steel, utilizing .1% nitrogen instead of carbon. Carbon is the component in steel that makes the blade hard and allows it to hold an edge. Carbon also reacts to chloride, making rust. With nitrogen replacing the carbon; hardness and edge retention are realized but nitrogen doesn't react to chloride so it physically cannot rust.
