 The Story of the Gibson Buck: Larry Gibson went out to fill his freezer with a supply of venison in Randolph County, Missouri, in the fall of 1971. He reportedly shot the buck at no more than 20 yards with a .308. At the time, Gibson was glad to get the meat, but the huge 12-point rack meant little to him so he sold the antlers to the Missouri Show-Me Big Bucks Club for $200, and he hasn't been heard from since. One lesson to be learned from the Gibson buck is that any hunter has a chance of someday bagging an enormous whitetail—not just hardcore trophy hunters. The Gibson buck has an incredibly beautiful 205" symmetrical rack, with some of the most fluid, well-balanced, and wide-sweeping curves of any.
