Manufactured at the Barnaul plant in Russia, Silver Bear ammo derives its name from the zinc-plated steel casings used. These steel casings feature a zinc plating to prevent corrosion improving the shelf life of these rounds! Additionally, zinc has a lower friction coefficient than steel helping Silver Bear ammo to feed and extract better than non-coated steel cased ammo.
Manufactured in Russia, this product features nickel plated steel-cases and is berdan-primed, non-corrosive, and non-reloadable.
It is both economical and precision manufactured at the Barnaul Machine Plant. The company is currently one of the largest suppliers of cartridges in Russia. It also delivers cartridges regularly to America, Europe, and Asia.

Silver Bear ammunition is manufactured in Russia by Barnaul. With a non-reloadable steel case, and a bi-metal jacketed bullet, it's some of the least expensive 9 millimeter ammunition available. Some steel-cased ammo has a polymer coating to help it feed better. Silver Bear, instead, uses a zinc-plated steel case. I don't know that one is necessarily better than the other, but I find that polymer coated ones sometimes gives off a funny smell. So I tend to prefer Silver Bear for steel-cased ammo.
We tested the 115 grain, 9 millimeter with a bullet that's got a normal lead core and a bi-metal jacket made of steel copper and zinc. Because there's steel in the jacket, it will attract a magnet, which some shooting ranges don't allow. So be sure to check with your range first. We ran this ammo through six of our test guns and didn't have a problem at all with reliability or feeding.
In fact, we got some of the best accuracy out of this ammo from a rest at 15 yards than we've had with any ammo in our tests so far. Now I'm not prepared to say that all Silver Bear ammo is what you would call match accurate, and maybe I was just having a good day at the range. With that said, I certainly wouldn't hesitate to look at Silver Bear for dependable range ammo. And it might be a great choice if you're looking to stock up and buy in bulk.
