Federal XM855 5.56mm NATO ammunition is loaded to Military specification at the Lake City facility. This particular load uses the SS109 bullet which is a 62 grain Green Tip Steel Penetrator. The finished rounds consist of sealed primers which is ideal for long term storage and moisture protection. The ammo comes 10 rounds to a stripper clip, with 3 stripper clips to a cardboard sleeve, for a total of 420 rounds in the ammo can. This round has the potential to punch holes through steel plates. Note: This item is manufactured in the Lake City Plant currently run by Federal ATK. The ammo is brand new, brass cased, boxer primed, non-corrosive and re-loadable. It is made to military specifications which require the cases to be annealed. Unlike civilian production ammo, the military requires to see evidence of annealing on the round itself. This is why the cases will appear to be discolored.
